The Jeremiah Milbank Society
Jeremiah Milbank (1887 – 1972) was a man of remarkable
accomplishments as a businessman, financer and
philanthropist. In his lifetime, Milbank organized the
International Committee for the Study of Infantile
Paralysis, the International Center for the Disabled and
helped President Herbert Hoover develop the Boys & Girls
Club national organization. Milbank believed that wealth
not used to help others was wealth wasted. One
instrument of that belief is the JM Foundation, which
has provided more than one hundred million dollars to
foster self-sufficiency, personal responsibility and
private initiative.
The Jeremiah Milbank Society, initiated in February
2004, is designed to engage leading donors by
strengthening their understanding and support of Boys &
Girls Clubs, and by recognizing their deep commitment to
the children of their community. Individuals who donate
$10,000 or more to a local Club for unrestricted support
are recognized annually through membership in The
Jeremiah Milbank Society.
