A workshop for service providers, educators, therapists, probation officers, social workers, mental health workers, & others who support girls’ growth and development. Girls Circle training has been applied to programs such as positive youth development, juvenile probation, schools, health education, boys and girls clubs, substance abuse prevention, pregnancy prevention, outdoor adventure groups, and gang-prevention.

Ten Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) members stepped into the world of haute cuisine when they took part in the annual BGCSA holiday luncheon at the Hotel Valencia's Citrus restaurant. Donning monogrammed chef's aprons, the Club members got to chop, peel, grate, sauté, assemble and present a gourmet holiday lunch in one of downtown’s fine dining restaurants.

Bruce Bowen and Club Kids Splish, Splash and have a Blast
In July, San Antonio Spurs forward Bruce Bowen and H-E-Buddy got in the pool -- without floaties -- to teach Boys & Girls Club members about the importance of water safety and fitness as part of the GET FIT program. Bowen and the staff at the Spectrum Athletic Club at Rogers Ranch. Bowen used fun aquatic activities to teach the children about health and fitness. The games included the Seahorse Race, Ping-Pong Scramble and Fill the Bucket Challenge. Afterward, the children had a chance to enjoy a healthy snack of fresh fruit.

First Annual Chili Cook-off to be held at the Teen Center
At least 10 chili-cooking teams from around San Antonio will vie for the title of Chili Champion at the first annual Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio's Chili Cook-off on Monday, Sept. 17, from noon to 8 p.m. The event is being held in conjunction with the national "BGC Day for Kids."

Children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio recently learned about minding their p’s and q’s at an etiquette dinner with Silver Stars Ruth Riley and Camille Little courtesy of Morton’s The Steakhouse. Posture, table manners, napkin use, bread etiquette, which utensils to use and more were taught to the 10 children by Margaret Houston, etiquette teacher from the Texas School of Protocol. Knowing proper table etiquette will allow these children the self-confidence and comfort level to dine anywhere and with anyone.
