San Antonio Committee Donates over $4,000 to the Boys &
Girls Clubs
San Antonio -- Jan. 30, 2008 The Technology and
Economic Development Committee of the Leadership San
Antonio Class XXXIII has raised over $4,000 for the Boys
& Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA). The donation will
enable the BGCSA to establish a Teen Center at the
Candlewood branch on the city's northeast side. On Jan.
9, the committee held a reception and silent auction at
the AT&T Center for the entire Leadership San Antonio
Class of XXXIII and the organization's steering
committee, raising $4,005 for the Teen Center. The Teen
Center will be unveiled at a Grand Opening on Feb 28 at
the Candlewood location, 3635 Candleglenn.
"We are very grateful to Leadership San Antonio for
this generous donation," said Jim Watson, executive
director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio. "This
gift will allow us to establish a Teen Center, purchase
equipment and supplies, and develop enriching programs
specifically for our teens at this location.
About the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio
Founded in 1939, the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio
serves more than 6,500 members annually at five branch
locations and several satellite locations. The Clubs
provide after school and summer programs that develop
talents, values and skills in youth ages six-to-18 years
old, paying particular attention to those who need these
programs most. As a result of the Clubs programs, young
people are inspired and enabled to realize their full
potential as productive, responsible and caring
